Her free spirit and unique way of teaching are frowned upon by many people, but she’s popular with the students. She is in love with a married man, and one of her students is secretly in love with her. Her parents want her to marry a young policeman. The suffocating atmosphere in her hometown prompts her to go to Beijing and look for new opportunities. Director's biography Liu Shu graduated from the University of Shandong. After taking up a position as a television journalist she began working in film. Currently employed by an NGO, she presents independent and experimental films to a network of university and artistic cinema. Lotus the first film that she wrote, produced and directed herself, premiered at the Critic's Week in Venice in 2012. All are welcome.
