Message from Department of Music Upcoming Concert - New Music by Young Composers 1:30 – 2:20 pm April 12, 2017 (Wednesday) Rehearsal Room (LG1.22), Run Run Shaw Tower Centennial Campus, The University of Hong Kong All Welcome For further information, call 39177045 This concert features premieres of short solo & ensemble pieces written by undergraduate students who have taken the course Fundamentals of Music Composition in which they are encouraged to write creatively. Solo pieces for flute, violin or cello are the very first experimental works by these young composers who aim to explore contemporary techniques such as rhythmic irregularity, free tonality, articulation variety, flexible phrasing, etc. The other 3 ensemble works showcase the influence of French and Jazz harmony. Four distinguished guest musicians with extensive experience in new music will deliver the programme with skills and inspiration.
