Leung Building, Main Campus, HKU Post-screening discussion: Documentarian Augustine Lam will discuss the work of Xu Tong. Er Hou-sheng is a blind traveling musician who wanders the land with his partner/lover to perform sensational musical duets. A mesmerizing singer, Er has many female fans who are enthralled with his mix of saucy comedy and earthy recounting of harsh encounters. The compelling character study of the artist who survives and folk traditions is set against the bleak beauty of the northern Inner Mongolia landscape. Director Xu Tong is one of the most acclaimed documentary filmmaker working in China today. His documentary “Trilogy of Vagabonds” (Wheat Harvest, Fortune-teller, Shattered) was well-known to independent film lovers and critics. All are welcome! No registration required.
